Call of Duty: World at War stürmt die Charts

Der neue Shooter "Call of Duty: World at War" hat in der ersten Woche die Charts im Vereinigten Königreich (UK) gestürmt. Laut Angaben diverser Quellen liegt Call of Duty: World at War somit auf dem ersten Platz, gefolgt vom neuen World at Warcraft-Addon "Wrath of the Litch King".
Auch in Deutschland liegt "Call of Duty: World at War" mit dem zweiten Platz in den Saturn-Charts ganz weit oben. Bei unseren niederländischen Nachbarn zählt der neue Call of Duty-Teil ebenfalls zu den Top Ten, wobei dort aber zwischen den einzelnen Plattformen unterschieden wird.

Das beliebte Gameserverlisten- und -administrationstool HLSW erfuhr heute ein kleines, aber für uns doch sehr wichtiges Update: Der neueste Streich von Treyarch, Call of Duty: World at War, wird nun in der aktuellen Beta-Version 1.3.0.6 offiziell unterstützt. Über 2600 Server listet das Tool zur Zeit in der CoD:WW Serverliste auf.

Bei Activision/ Treyarch scheint es derzeit richtig rund zu gehen. Nicht nur, dass man es schlichtweg versäumte Gamestop (das Unternehmen hatte das vertragliche Recht, das Game einen Tag vor Release zu verkaufen) die PC-Version von Call of Duty: World at War auszuliefern. Nein, aufgrund der angespannten Situation bzw. dem Verhältnis von Treyarch und Infinity Ward zu Activision hat nun Lead Scripter Mike Denny das Handtuch geworfen und Treyarch verlassen. Man darf gespannt sein, inwiefern dies die Programmierung von Patches beeinflusst.

1. For the American gamers who expected to go to their local Gamestop store and buy the game (Gamestop is the exclusive retailer of the game)...I received word from mycallofduty.com's PST*Joker that Activision failed to ship out the PC version of COD:WW to Gamestop's around the USA. Only the console version is currently available! An emergency shipment has been ordered. Gamestop apparently stated they will have the PC version by the 11th ...but it will be a close run thing.
2. Mike Denny, the lead Scripter at Treyarch's CoD:WW has apparently turned in his resignation. He will be going to iD. Sources indicate that he is leaving due to the politics at Treyarch. The suits from corporate ATVI are apparently all over the developers at both Treyarch and IW and this has rattled some of the older employees like Denny who has been with the company for approximately ten years.
While BASHandSlash.com wishes Mr. Denny well, his departure does cast a pall over the future support of the game. Hopefully, the troops will rally at losing a figure as important as the lead Scripter.

Das man sich zum Release von Call of Duty - World at War bei Treyarch auf die faule Haut legt, davon kann man nicht wirklich sprechen. Nur allzu selten kommt es vor, dass bereits nach so kurzer Zeit der erste Patch für ein A³ Game draussen ist. Für Call of Duty - World at War ist zumindest bereits VOR dem offiziellen Deutschland-Release ( 13.November 2008 ) das erste Datenpaket verfügbar und kommt mit folgenden Issues an den Start:
• Mods are now enabled in Co-op, Single Player, and Multiplayer.
• Players will now be notified when a new patch is available.
• Improvements for SLI support.
• G_Spawn: no free entities crash has been fixed.
• Server no longer runs out of script variables.
• License key is no longer required to run a Dedicated Server.
• A Dedicated Server can now be started from the Command Line via Remote Desktop Connection.
• Various fixes in Server Browser.
• Players will no longer see multiple friend invites from the same friends.
• When a player calls in a recon plane in a Hardcore match, the HUD will properly appear.
• Clan Tags will now display in game where appropriate.
• Map holes fixed
• Spawn improvements and weapon balancing
Der Patch kommt mit satten 317 MB daher und fixed bereits in der Startphase des Spiels einige nervige Bugs.
